Casey studied English and environmental studies at Florida State University, where she was first introduced to the concept of food justice. Since then she has been working in the world of food connectivity all over the US, focusing on farming, food bank support, and education. She aims to continue on this path and eventually open an educational community center that incorporates growing food as well as medicinal herbs.

She is also excited to connect with more like-minded people with a drive and passion for community health. One random fact about Casey is that she was slimed at Universal Studios when she was eight years old, living out a true 90s child's dream! In college, they interned with Planned Parenthood and a local harm reduction clinic. They're excited to visit Portland restaurants and get to know the June cohort. She went to school at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, where she double majored in human services and French with a minor in teaching English as a second language.

After completing university, Hillary taught English in France for two years, as well as taught abroad in Brazil. She can speak fluent French and conversational Portuguese. Hillary completed her first AmeriCorps service year in Boston, MA serving with City Year where she mentored and assisted in a third-grade classroom - completely over zoom. Hillary is particularly excited to work with AmeriCorps VISTA in Portland and give back to the community she grew up in, with a focus on public health and learning more about the ins and outs of public health policy.

In her free time Hillary likes to read, exercise, and take her neighbor's dog on long, rambling walks. Eileen is a recent graduate of Oregon State University, where she studied public health with a focus on health promotion and behavior and a minor in sociology.

She has spent time interning with the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition to address local food insecurity as well as with the local System of Care to connect families in need to resources.

She is looking forward to beginning such work during her year of AmeriCorps VISTA service, and she is excited to work alongside other individuals who share her passion for public health. A recent graduate of Oregon State University in Corvallis, Isna studied public health with a focus in health management and policy and a minor in business and entrepreneurship. In the past Isna has volunteered with the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence Advocacy center at their reception desk and their wish list drives.

After a year of service, Isna plans to go to graduate school for a Master of Public Health degree. In her free time Isna has taken up embroidery and enjoys making patterns for friends and family. They previously worked for an experiential event company and has frequently volunteered with disabled sports organizations in Phoenix. During and beyond their year of service, Claire is eager to learn more about non-profits that work to help disabled individuals get access to the outdoors and medical care.

Outside of work, they are a big fan of adventure sports such as white-water kayaking and climbing. Ashlea has moved around a lot since she was young and has lived in 6 different states so far, and Oregon will be her 7th. She studied at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and majored in communications with a concentration in public relations. Ashlea has spent over 10 years working in film and commercial production, and now wants to shift her focus to public health communications.

She is also a certified yoga teacher and holistic nutritionist. Ashlea is very excited to work in this role with the Community Supported Agriculture for Health program and also looks forward to working with PSU on data research. David went to school at Virginia Commonwealth University where he studied anthropology and religion.

In college David volunteered with Tricycle Gardens, a nonprofit dedicated to providing fresh produce to areas of Richmond deemed food deserts. After graduating he pursued cooking as a career in Asheville, NC for a year. Following that, he served with AmeriCorps as a Supply and Logistics Coordinator in New Jersey and South Carolina, helping people get their homes rebuilt after natural disasters.

In the future, David is considering becoming a licensed clinical social worker. In his spare time, David enjoys skateboarding, cooking, and making music. He is excited to move out to the coast and learn more about starting a new career! Ammara recently graduated from Oregon State University, where she received a degree in public health. During her time at OSU, Ammara participated in student government and frequently volunteered at a local free clinic.

During her VISTA service, she is most excited to learn more about ways to improve access to emergency services in vulnerable communities. In her free time, Ammara loves to spend time outdoors with family and friends and read books on science fiction and philosophy. Originally from St. Anna graduated from Augustana College with a degree in anthropology and a minor in public health. During her time in college, Anna planned service events with organizations she was a part of on campus to give back to the Quad Cities region.

She also assisted with coordinating events on campus to educate and inform students on sexual health. Anna is looking forward to learning more about public health, and getting to be a part of a new community during her service year. In the near future, Anna hopes to pursue a Master of Public Health degree to follow her passion: giving back to the communities she is a part of.

In her free time, Anna enjoys exploring the outdoors, finding the best places for food, practicing yoga, and watching movies. At UO, she studied political science with minors in history and women and gender studies and certificates in public policy and global engagement.

She hopes to work for the State Department as a foreign service officer after her time with AmeriCorps. A fun fact about her is that she loves animals and is always ready with an animal fact. Suzannah graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in painting and a minor in sculpture.

After graduating she began working as an activities coordinator for grades pk-5th at a small private school in New Orleans. After working in a school setting, she decided that she wanted to live a life more dedicated to service and become a licensed social worker. Her biggest career goal is to open a nonprofit that provides aftercare and support for suicide survivors and ease them back into society to live a happy, healthy, and self-sufficient life.

She is a classically trained oil painter but her main hobbies are knitting and woodworking. Amy grew up in Corvallis, OR and went to school there, attending Oregon State University and studying biology with a minor in public health and a Medical Humanities Certificate.

She volunteered with a local sports league for 10 years, as well as volunteering for the last school year with Student Health Services as part of a peer health promotion team. She also worked for the College of Science, promoting student success and providing general student support.

After her service with AmeriCorps, she plans to pursue an MPH, with a focus in either health promotion or epidemiology. Sarah Rose has spent the last few years at Beloit College in Wisconsin, studying philosophy, cognitive science, and English. One of the volunteer experiences she values most has been working with a second-grade student to help develop literacy skills.

She previously worked at the Buccaneer Boathouse, an organization at her school that gives students the opportunity to canoe and kayak on the Rock River. Although she's not yet entirely sure what career path she'd like to take, she's interested public health and communications.

In her free time, she enjoys walking and listening to audiobooks. She's excited to learn more about the field of public health and how to effectively communicate to wide audiences. Dulce recently graduated from the University of Portland with a degree in biology and minors in sociology and mathematics.

In college she participated in a community-based learning experience called the Border Immersion, which focuses on immigration injustice and activism. She also worked extensively with the First-Generation student community on campus and had the opportunity to intern with WorldOregon in their International Visitor Program last summer.

This past year, she worked on a research project with one of her professors looking at the root causes for the disproportionate COVID disease and vaccination rates among minority communities in the U. She is excited to collaborate with community partners and learn more about policy implementation. Fun fact: She has a giant stuffed pineapple — like the ones from the fair!
