He is still angry with his brother for stealing his fiance the OW in this story and then not bothering to marry her. He hones in on the heroine and gets the whole sad story.
Hero has to work a lot so brother squires her around town. There are a lot of scenes with the h and brother. Brother tells the h that the hero is sleeping with the OW. He wants the h to marry him after she gets an annulment. This all comes to a head at the family Christmas where the hero sees the h and his brother kissing in the middle of the night. The hero likes Hawaii, but the hero is working a lot. Still they are having sex like bunnies, until the brother shows up with the OW. HEA For all the hated tropes, this one was a solid read, but not that enthralling. It wasn't intense enough because the heroine kept changing her mind about which brother. But it was entertaining in a soap opera way. View all 4 comments. Nov 26, Jacqueline J rated it really liked it Shelves: zhp , harlequin-presents , heroine-is-a-ninny , older-man , omg-plot.
A whole bunch of WTFery here. I've recently been enjoying some Kay Thorpe. This one was a total trainwreck. I expected the heroine to run away from the cruel hero at least 4 times. My jaw dropped continually when she didn't leave him.
I mean he just gutted her feelings over and over. And the next day she'd be right back for more. And then the whole cheating with his brother thing. They didn't have sex sure but they did a bunch of kissing and planning to get married after she had her marriage ann A whole bunch of WTFery here. They didn't have sex sure but they did a bunch of kissing and planning to get married after she had her marriage annulled.
That's cheating. The hero rapes the heroine on finding out all this stuff and here again I think surely this is where she leaves him but no. As per HP guidelines he immediately "makes love" with her again to prove "it's not always like that" and of course she loves it. More misunderstandings and cheating with the brother ensue. At the end the hero is all about I was attracted to you the first night I met you and that is why I let myself be blackmailed into marrying you.
But if an author wants me to believe that then at that first meeting we should have seen at least some smoldering looks or indulgent conversations but there is absolutely NOTHING in that first scene to make me buy that he had fallen for her at first sight. Maybe they deserve each other. It was a fun read though. Mar 02, Leona rated it really liked it Shelves: hqn. This is one of those guilty reads where I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I enjoyed it, but I did.
I definitely recommend, but there were a couple of truly asshat moments delivered not only from our hero, but heroine that might put some readers off. One day she is in love with brother, having sex like there is no tomorrow. The next moment she is in love with other brother, flirting and having secret rendez-vous.
Then the next day, she i This is one of those guilty reads where I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I enjoyed it, but I did. Then the next day, she is back with first brother.
This woman could not make up her mind. Seems he has great bedside manners. This is a much darker read than other Kay Thorpe books. Consequently much richer in content. View 2 comments. This was funny. The hero is 35 but seems my granfather, and the heroine is Are you serious???? He ask her to marry after two dates and she accepts. When they are married he says he's been blackmailed by her father who threatened to reveal that his younger brother is a junkie who killed a girl in a car accident. The heroine, who was in love with him, is hurt, but she accepts to be married to him for some time, in name only. I like this heroine.
She was 17 but she was spunky. And the book was written 40 years ago. Wonderful girl. She knows that three years before his girlfriend left him because she wanted his older brother, and she knows that he dates her to get even with his brother, and she tells him too. Young and innocent she may be but stupid surely she's not.
The heroine is hurt, but doesn't hold a grudge and when the hero makes it up to her and has better sex with her she's satisfied and starts thinking their marriage could work. I know that rape is unforgivable, but this is an old and dated book, with some point of views about sex that aren't acceptable anymore in our days luckily - They have some good months in Maui where he has a part of his business, but then his brother and wannabe ow come and they spoil it all.
Luckily she understands he loves her just before leaving, and they can have a HEA. Ok, the book was fun and fast paced. The rape is not a good moment. The heroine is 17 and the hero is 35, that makes him almost a pedophile. But the book is old and you can feel it. The heroine has grit, she's not a victim and she accepts what she has, even making mistakes and risking very much.
She makes out with her brother in law, but the hero basically told her he only married her because he was blackmailed and he would ask an annulment as soon as possible. I liked her, faults and all. She's not stupid or naive, even if she's a teenager.
The hero is 35 going on He's the less sexy hero I've met since. In the morning he has breakfast with his pajamas, a dressing gown and leather slippers. My grandpa. I wonder what he has in common with the heroine. He ironically says to his younger wife that she will be the death of him, because of her sexual appetite And we may well believe him.
But she seems quite contented of him. Then one day he cruelly told her, "I was blackmailed. Previews available in: English. Add another edition? Copy and paste this code into your Wikipedia page.
